The German DIY retailer is bringing Jochen Ludwig back to the board and former board member Paolo Alemagna back to the company as an advisor. Since 15 March, Jochen Ludwig has been the new Chief Commercial Officer at Obi Group Holding SE & Co. KGaA. Together with his commercial team, he bears overall responsibility for assortments, supplier and partner business, inventories as well as import and private label business.
Ludwig stepped down as Obi Managing Director for Central Europe in 2017, but returned as Country Managing Director Switzerland in 2021 and subsequently headed Obi Italia. In the meantime, he spent a year as CEO of Expert SE and as a consultant. He had started his career at Obi in 1994 as store manager.
Gonn Weide, who held the position of Head of Purchasing until then, will in future assume responsibility in the area of strategic development and implementation of the strategy for the Obi Group. Reporting directly to CEO Sebastian Gundel, his focus in the expanded role of Senior Vice President Strategy & Investor Relations will be on the international design of the strategic pillars, shareholder communication and the further development and implementation of the sustainability strategy.
Responsibility for the business in Italy and the development of a sustainable management team, as stated in a press release, will be taken over by Paolo Alemagna as an external consultant. He was already responsible for the Italian market in the past as country manager and was a member of the holding company's executive board from 2005 to 2017.
Felix Jostarndt will take over the management in Switzerland as Country Managing Director. He has been with the company since 2019 and most recently played a key role in the development of the growth strategy as Vice President Strategy.
