The home improvement stores of the French chain L'entrepôt du bricolage increased their sales by 4.8 per cent in the first half of 2023 compared with the same period in the previous year, with a sales volume amounting to EUR 204.7 mio. Groupe Samse, the parent company, operates primarily in wholesale. This business area grew by just 0.6 per cent to EUR 808.6 mio in the first six months.
In 2022, the trend was in the opposite direction. While Groupe Samse achieved a 10.7 per cent increase in sales from its wholesale activities to EUR 1.514 bn, sales at its 37 retail sites, mainly in the southeast of France, fell by 0.9 per cent. The group puts sales for 2022 at EUR 535 mio, which still represented growth of 26.7 per cent compared with 2019.
