The Thailand operations of home improvement retailer Mr. DIY has fully entered the e-commerce space of the country when it launched its official online store just months after it started taking up space on retailing platform Shopee. Mr. DIY Thailand’s online store, www.mrdiy.co.th, aims to expand the company’s reach and make shopping more convenient in the “land of smiles” where, according to Chinese digital commerce agency TMO group, more than half of its 71.6 million people are online shoppers.
“We have accelerated our e-commerce marketing strategy to provide convenience and additional channels for our customers to shop 24 hours every day emphasizing ‘The Everyday Store for Everyone’ as well as delivering an excellent shopping experience to customers with our core value of a variety of products at ‘Always Low Prices’,” Mr. DIY Thailand vice president for marketing Arnupharp Kongmalai was quoted as saying in a statement announcing the move.
According to the company, the online store sells a selection of best-sellers and caters to online shoppers that “look for valuable products”. The retailer’s brick and mortar stores in the country offer a full range of 18 000 products.
“From our consumer behaviour analysis, we have found that Thai consumer lifestyles have changed and they focus more on services and products that can truly meet their needs,” Arnupharp said. He added that the company sees e-commerce expanding in Thailand, particularly in the home improvement retail market.
The launch of Mr. DIY Thailand’s official e-store comes on the heels of its first foray into the Thai digital retail sphere last March, when it opened a virtual shop on Shopee, Thailand’s top e-commerce platform.
