The China International Hardware Show (CIHS) has returned after a three-year break due to the coronavirus. The 20th edition of the trade fair was held in Shanghai from 19 to 21 September. Together with the trade events China International Building Hardware & Fasteners Show and China International Locks & Security Doors Show, the CIHS occupied an exhibition area of 120,000 m². There were 2,723 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions. During the three days of the fair, 68,405 visitors from 97 countries and regions came to Shanghai, with buyers from abroad accounting for 7.7 per cent. International exhibitors came in particular from Germany, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, India and Taiwan. As before, the organisers were the German trade fair company Koelnmesse and the China National Hardware Association.
"This year's event marks a grand comeback and restart, and we have exceeded expectations in terms of the scales, numbers of exhibitors and visitors, performance of events and the feedback from all participants," said association president Zhang Dongli.
"In the past two decades, we have witnessed the prosperous development of China's hardware industry and contributed to the enhancement of international cooperation and exchanges. With years of expansion and accumulation, CIHS has successfully evolved into the ideal choice and access for overseas buyers in the Chinese market," remarked Oliver Frese, chief operating officer of Koelnmesse. "At a time when the global economy is stabilising in the post-pandemic era, we are delighted to provide comprehensive support to enterprises in expanding their global export capabilities and distribution networks through our on-site events and services."
The fair was again accompanied by an extensive supporting programme. Among other things, there were 52 conference sessions and numerous awards were presented.
