Number of Ace Hardware stores increased by 124 worldwide

The number of hardware stores affiliated to Ace Hardware worldwide rose to 5 870 locations in 2023; the addition of 222 stores was offset by the loss of 98 locations. In the USA, there were 4 994 locations, 127 more than in the previous year. There were 203 new locations and 76 closures.

The cooperation centre reports total sales of USD 9.131 bn for 2023, which is 0.4 per cent less than in the previous year. This is not the retail turnover of the store network, which is operated by independent retailers. The published annual report merely states that same store sales fell by 2.2 per cent.

The largest share of Ace sales is made up of wholesale sales from the head office to affiliated retailers. These sales fell by 0.3 per cent to USD 8.345 bn. The Ace head office also operates its own stores. Their turnover fell by 1.4 per cent to USD 786.4 mio.
