Swiss DIY stores recorded a massive drop in sales in the second quarter compared to the same period of the previous year. At CHF 1.04 bn, sales were 8.6 per cent below the corresponding figure for 2023, with like-for-like sales down 7.8 per cent. As the first quarter was exactly on a par with the previous year, sales for the first half of the year as a whole fell by 5.2 per cent to CHF 1.78 bn. On a like-for-like basis, the decline was 4.4 per cent. This is according to the GfK Total Store Report DACH, the figures for which were published by BHB.

At -17.0 per cent, garden furniture was the biggest downward outlier. On the other hand, the electrical goods range set positive accents with +2.9 per cent.
