The German DIY group Obi has launched its first international advertising campaign, which is running simultaneously in nine countries at the start of the season. The centrepiece of the spring campaign is a commercial that conveys the message: “Nothing stops us!” The slogan has been linguistically adapted for each country. The retailer wants to inspire its customers and encourage them to realise their personal visions. The Queen hit “Don't stop me now” is intended to emphasise this message.
The advert features 18 employees from various branches and central locations in eight sales countries. Obi is thus continuing the ‘Local Heroes’ concept, which began in December. “We are putting real store employees at the centre of our campaign to show that We really are available for our customers,” explains Head of Marketing Christian von Hegel. In his opinion, it is impressive to see how a strong sense of solidarity has developed in a very short space of time despite the different cultural backgrounds.
