Unlike their neighbours in Germany and Switzerland, DIY stores in Austria closed 2024 with an increase in sales. Compared to the previous year, they increased their sales by 0.9 per cent to EUR 3.09 bn. These figures were announced by the BHB trade association, which brings together most DIY store operators in the DACH region, at its annual press conference. However, the higher inflation rate of 2.9 per cent also contributed to the more positive development compared to its neighbours, noted René Haßfeld, BHB board spokesman and CEO of Toom Baumarkt, when presenting the figures from the GfK Total Store Report.
