The DIY & Home Improvement event will offer DIY and garden products together with lighting and electrical goods. The Gifts & Home Products show, with its giftware, toys, home enhancement products and housewares, will be held concurrently with the DIY exhibition.
More than 20 000 visitors attended the China Sourcing Fairs this spring.
Organisers Global Sources are expecting a new visitor record to exceed the attendance figures of the spring event. Held in April, it counted 20 240 buyers from 137 countries during the two fairs. A total of 1 535 exhibitors were represented there. No exhibitor figures for the autumn fair were available at the time of going to press. It emerged from a survey carried out during the spring fair that nearly 82 per cent of the buyers made contact with five or more new suppliers and over 54 per cent claimed to have found more than ten new suppliers.
The October fairs will be spread over two locations: suppliers of DIY products will mainly be represented on the 11 900 m² Intex site, whereas Gifts & Home Improvement will be housed in the Shanghai Mart (21 000 m²).
Suppliers of DIY products will be mainly represented at Intex.
The focus will be on trends in goods procurement in China at conferences held in parallel. There will also be advice on purchasing and information about the latest developments in logistics and customs regulations. In addition, resellers will be given the chance to present their company and their procurement needs to a select group of suppliers in the course of a separate event.
Visitors can also obtain information about products in the run-up to the fair by means of an internet platform offered by the organisers, Global Sources (www.globalsources.com), where they can make contact with suppliers. From spring 2006 the China Sourcing Fairs will take place not only in Shanghai but also in Hong Kong. There the venue will be the Asia World Expo, an exhibition site covering over 70 000 m², which should be completed by then.
