The Chinese Yankon Group, with its annual production capacity of over 100 mio LED bulbs and lights, is considered to be one of the biggest manufacturers of LED lighting in the world. With its distribution company Energetic Lighting Europe, founded in 2008 and based in Antwerp, Belgium, the sales and marketing operations are geared to the European customers and trading partners.
This is also made possible by the fact that the production sites in China are oriented to the needs in the target markets. Consequently, Energetic Lighting’s product range is produced in a factory in Xiamen, totally focused on Europe. In addition to the wide range of LED lights, a full range of LED bulbs are also manufactured, which are marketed under the brand “energetic” as well as trademarks.
“After already building a strong market position in several European countries, we are now looking to expand, especially in the UK and DACH” says Will Smits, Vice President Sales Europe. For this reason, the company has placed country managers in every target country.
Currently the programme is being expanded to include numerous products as the classic bulbs are not only visually similar but are also similar in terms of light distribution, but at the same time offer an energy saving of up to 90 percent. In addition to an extension of the spot bulb family to bulbs with glass bodies, the new developments are concentrating on LED filament bulbs. For this reason, a patent agreement has been concluded, on the basis that the group was founded in 1975 and that Yankon is one of the few manufacturers that are fully authorized for the production and sales of LED filament bulbs.
“The special feature of the filament bulbs is the spiral design, in which the LED chips are lined up on the rod-shaped carriers so that they replicate the classic incandescent filament very well. This design allows not only an all-round radiating light, but also the construction of very filigree bulb shapes” says Smits. The new product family will include LED bulbs in the shape of A60, candles and spheres.
