Leroy Merlin Russia will be working in future with Symphony Gold, a leading supplier of software and IT service solutions for retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers. The Russian DIY market leader will use the products Gold Demand Forecasting, Warehouse Replenishment and Replenishment Insights to streamline warehouse management at its six storage locations.
Leroy Merlin Russia aims to use Gold to advance the capital development of its own inventories by reducing inventory costs and increasing the availability of goods. The company is targeting a long-term increase in sales and improved customer service.
"We looked for a system that would enable us to optimise our stocks and at the same time to work cost-efficiently on availability," explains Eric Poulet, supply chain director at Leroy Merlin Russia. "By consolidating import logistics with regional logistics, Gold gives us genuine global transparency in all our processes. The Gold Replenishment Insights module also supports us in making important decisions and helps us to considerably improve all activities at Leroy Merlin Russia."
Leroy Merlin belongs to the French Groupe Adeo. It employs more than 50 000 people around the world in approximately 325 stores in 13 countries: Greece, Brazil, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Russia, China, Cyprus, Romania, Ukraine and Turkey. To satisfy the growing demand in Russia, the company wanted to compress its supply chain significantly.
It was important to reduce operating costs in the warehouses supplying 36 outlets in 17 cities and substantially improve goods availability at the POS. Donald MacDaid, supply chain vice-president for Symphony Gold, is convinced that "Symphony Gold is the perfect solution for a fast-growing retailer like Leroy Merlin Russia, for which optimisation of the entire global logistics chain is pending". He adds: "Gold creates extensive transparency and supplies relevant stock knowledge from all goods flows between suppliers, warehouses and stores. Leroy Merlin Russia can markedly improve product availability with this and increase customer satisfaction in all markets."
