Ledvance will primarily expand its portfolio of networkable lamps and luminaires in the outdoor sector for the coming lighting season. Gardenpole Mini, to be launched in September, will already be the third new product in just one year for outdoor use. The company is now simultaneously advancing into the Apple universe in Europe as well - with HomeKit-compatible products, initially a Classic A lamp and a flexible strip.
The company is also changing its name for smart home products to Osram Smart+ in September. With this change, Ledvance emphasizes that its portfolio of network-capable lamps, luminaires, push-buttons and socket is compatible with the main smart home platforms. In addition to Apple HomeKit and Osram Lightify, these currently consist of the partner systems Samsung SmartThings and Telekom Magenta. In some regions of the world the products can already be controlled via Amazon Alexa and in the USA recently also via Google Home. Ledvance devices can also usually be simply integrated into the systems of competitors, if these utilize the ZigBee Lightlink protocol. The aim of the company is to become a leading supplier of components in the Internet of Things with everything to do with lighting, and for this reason, compatibility and partnerships will be even more strongly focused on.
The Flex Outdoor and Gardenpole Multicolor luminaires for gardens and terraces were presented at IFA 2016 and these will now be followed by Gardenpole Mini: the "little brother" of the above product that looks particularly attractive on balconies. The power plugs of all current outdoor products under the Smart+ name have an IP44 protection rating, and the luminaires and control units even have IP65. As RGBW models they feature red, blue, green and white LEDs and therefore more than 16 million colors, as well as controllable warm white (2,700 Kelvin) to cool white (6,500 Kelvin).
For indoor applications, Ledvance adds to its retrofit portfolio a Smart+ MR16 lamp offering controllable warm white to cool white. These lamps are ideal replace­ments for example for halogen lamps in cable pull systems or track systems with low voltage.
