The American number two’s balance sheet shows a 17.7 per cent sales increase and 115 new stores
In the financial year 2001/2002 (to 1 February 2002) the US DIY chain increased sales by 17.7 per cent to US $ 22.1 bn (25.3 bn euro). This amounted to an increase of 2.4 per cent on a like-for-like basis. The company opened 115 new stores during this period; this includes 14 store relocations. Seven outlets were closed down, so that there were 744 stores in operation on the closing date. Their total retail area grew by 19.1 per cent to 7.5 mio m².
