07.06.2004

The proportion of non-Australian products in the DIY market amounted to about 15 per cent at the last count.

The market for DIY goods in Australia is estimated at a figure of 7.3 bn Australian dollars (4.1 bn euro) in 2003 of which approximately 15 per cent where covered by imports. The German Bundesagentur for Außenwirtschaft (BFAI) is expecting this proportion to increase to about 20 per cent until the year 2006.  The agency is assuming that the retail turnover with imported goods in the DIY market will increase by one half over the next two years.
