Home Depot opens the first of two stores planned for this New York borough

Today sees the opening of Home Depot’s first store in Manhattan. The multi-level outlet offers a retail area of just under 10 000 m² and is located on 23rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The official opening ceremony yesterday evening was attended by Home Depot’s boss Bob Nardelli along with the Mayor of New York, Michael R. Bloomberg.
Home Depot has custom built the new outlet to meet the requirements of the residents of Manhattan. Among the services on offer are nine paint-mixing stations, in addition to tool rental, delivery and collection within the borough. How-to clinics are staged three times daily. Store hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. The DIY market leader currently operates 14 stores in the New York boroughs. A second outlet is scheduled to open in Manhattan later this year following this first opening.
