Lawnmowers head the list

The volume of the European garden tools market in consumer prices is estimated at a figure of approximately € 5.9 bn.

According to Gardena's market researchers, lawnmowers account for the greatest share of just under one-third. Around 5.7 mio units are sold annually. Fifty-six per cent are electric or cordless mowers, and 44 per cent are petrol-driven.
The circumstances are different in value terms. Here the electric/cordless segment takes a share of 30 per cent, and petrol mowers 70 per cent. The volume of electric lawnmowers in Germany was put by GfK at 440 900 units to the value of € 52.2 mio. About 80 per cent of the electric lawnmowers sold in DIY stores have a cutting width of 34 or 38 cm.
