The Global DIY Summit 2023 kicked off in Berlin yesterday with a large store tour. The programme of lectures for the two-day congress started today. More than 1 000 participants from over 50 countries have arrived.
Six buses headed for five DIY stores and one garden centre in the greater Berlin area, all of them showcase stores of the respective retail groups. The participants were possibly most surprised by the Bodenhaus store; this distribution system for floor coverings developed by Hornbach so far has another location in Cologne. The Bauhaus store visited stood out with a remarkable building, integrated into a listed former industrial building. A rather large store with 17 000 m² was the location of Globus Baumarkt on the list; the store has also already been converted to the new appearance with its modernised logo. At the Hornbach store, with its building materials centre, it became clear how strongly the company is committed to the professional business. The team of the 24 000 m² Obi store gave the visitors a warm welcome - together with Obi’s mascot, the Obi beaver. With a location of Pflanzen-Kölle, a pure garden centre was also on the programme of the store tour.
