Home Center, an Israeli DIY retail company, has introduced a new line of smaller-format stores called “Home”. The first two outlets were opened towards the end of December in the Tel Aviv area. They are neighbourhood stores below 200 m² in size that stock products for home maintenance and improvement. These include tools, hardware, electrical fittings, bathroom and plumbing products, paint and housewares. As announced by business development manager Moshe Afargen, five more openings are scheduled for the new format in 2012. According to information from Raviv Brockmeyer, CEO of Home Center, the stores are targeted at customers who are not particularly mobile, working people with little spare time and tenants requiring a quick and easy source of materials for maintenance jobs.
