The British Kingfisher Group is planning to open 68 new outlets during the current financial year. These include no fewer than 50 bases of the trade-oriented Screwfix brand In the United Kingdom alone. A total of five new stores are to open in France, with two planned for Poland, one for Russia, four for Turkey and six for Spain. In the financial year that ended on 2 February 2013, the group brought 70 outlets into operation, though 60 of these were in the Screwfix format. One new B&Q store was inaugurated in Britain, while there were two openings in France, three each in Poland and Spain, and one each in Russia and Turkey. One B&Q store was closed down in China, where Kingfisher is now testing a new format. That is a B&Q Design Centre of 4 000 m², which is targeted at the do-it-for-me market for interior design and finishing. This information comes from the company’s recently released financial report, which confirms the figures announced in February.
