Growth forecasts for the German market

The German market for home improvement products will grow by 1.7 per cent in 2018. This was the forecast given by market analyst Klaus Peter Teipel at the conference of the German industry association BHB in Cologne. However, the DIY store distribution channel is expected to experience below-average growth; according to the forecast, DIY stores might only increase their sales by 1.1 per cent to 22.1 bn euros.
One important topic for the industry that also featured large at the conference is e-commerce. In the home improvement, DIY and garden sphere, this market is already worth 3.6 bn euros in Germany and has increased latterly by 11.6 per cent.
