The top 15 German garden retailers achieved a double-digit increase in sales in 2020. The Statistik Baumarkt + Garten 2021 DACH (DIY Store + Garden Statistics 2021 for the German-speaking countries), published by Dähne Verlag in German, shows a rise of 11.1 per cent in sales. The latest edition of the publication has now come out.
The figures also include foreign sales by German retailers. The percentage increases reveal a broad spread, from 4.2 per cent at Bauvista to 22.7 per cent for Rewe with its Toom, Klee and B1 distribution lines. Because virtually no retail area was added during the year of coronavirus and in some cases retail space even disappeared, retail area turnover grew at a rate that was previously virtually unknown. The statisticians at Dähne Verlag put the increase at 10.2 per cent.
