Spanish manufacturers significantly increase sales in the third quarter

Spanish manufacturers in the home improvement sector increased their sales in the third quarter by 5.30 per cent compared with the same period last year. Set against the third quarter of 2019, however, sales to retailers rose by 21.99 per cent, according to the Afeb association. This statistic reflects the fact that retail outlets in Spain were largely closed in the second quarter of 2020 and sales rocketed following opening-up in the third quarter.
Compared with the third quarter of 2020, manufacturers' sales to the DIY distribution channel were down by 1.76 per cent. Compared with 2019, however, they were up by 19.80 per cent. Export growth was strongest in the quarter, increasing by 39.95 per cent compared with 2019 and by 28.16 pr cent compared with 2020.
