Clas Ohlson sales back to previous year's level at the end of the second quarter

Clas Ohlson has increased its sales by 3 per cent to SEK 4.294 bn (approx. EUR 393.9 mio) in the first half of the 2022/23 financial year (1 May to 31 October). The Scandinavian company announced that sales in the second fiscal quarter (1 August to 31 October) increased by 6 per cent. After a weaker first quarter, the company said that at the end of the second quarter it was back at the same overall sales level as at the same time last year. For the month of November, the company reported a 6 per cent increase in sales to SEK 1.085 bn (approx. EUR 99.52 mio).

Overall, the company is dealing with a changing market where households are under pressure from high energy costs, interest rate increases and uncertainty about the future, it said in a statement. The company sees a very strong trend for all types of energy-saving products, as well as for much of its basic range of household storage and organisation products.

Online sales grew 17 per cent in the first half of the financial year to SEK 490 mio (approx. EUR 44.95 mio). In the second quarter of 2022, online sales grew by 28 per cent.
