Edra/Ghin, the global trade associations for home improvement retailers, today launched a new joint working group to help the industry reduce its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions - the emissions generated by retailers' supply chains and customers' use of products in their homes. The associations made the announcement today at the Global DIY Summit in Berlin.
Leading home improvement retailers from around the world have agreed to serve as founding members of the taskforce: Adeo (Europe, South America, South Africa); Bunnings (Australia and New Zealand); Cainz (Japan); The Home Depot (North America); Hornbach (Europe); Kesko (Scandinavia); Kingfisher plc (UK and Europe); Obi (Europe) and Sodimac (South America).
Thierry Garnier, president of Edra/Ghin and group CEO of Kingfisher, commented: “As retailers, reducing emissions in how our products are made and used is our biggest challenge. But it’s also an opportunity. […] By coming together, hopefully, we can find more consistent, simpler ways to drive down our emissions. I invite home improvement retailers from around the world to join us in this new taskforce.”
