Cosimo Fadda, Honorary Chairman of the CFadda Group, will be honoured with the DIY Retail Legacy Award 2024. The award ceremony for the new award will take place at the 10th Global DIY Summit in Rome, Italy, during the gala evening on 12 June. This was decided and announced by the boards of the European DIY Retail Association (Edra), Home Improvement Manufacturers Association (Hima) and Global Home Improvement Network (Ghin). Marco Orlandelli, managing director of Organizzazione Orlandelli and Hima board member, will deliver the laudatory speech.
In the 1980s, Fadda expanded the CFadda chain, which has since become one of the most respected DIY companies in Sardinia. In 2009, he also founded the Bricolife consortium together with seven other retailers in Italy, which he chaired until 2012. Since then, the cooperation has grown to include 18 companies with a turnover of EUR 300 mio and 85 points of sale.
Edra/Ghin General Secretary John W. Herbert emphasised: "Cosimo Fadda is an ideal example of family retailing at its best. The Italian DIY market continues to be fuelled by such family-run 'ferramenta' businesses and I can think of no other person more deserving of the DIY Retail Legacy Award in Italy than the widely respected and appreciated Cosimo Fadda."
The Global DIY Hall of Fame will also be presented during the gala evening. This will include previous winners of both the Global and European DIY Lifetime Awards. However, the Hall of Fame will not only recognise major international retailers and suppliers, but also other market players who have had a profound impact on their local communities. For this reason, therefore, the new DIY Retail Legacy Award is being introduced. The award recognises individuals who have transformed their local communities and created prosperity and positive change through their innovation and commitment to the DIY industry.
