The British DIY chain Wickes has reported growth in the third quarter after a mixed first half of the year. Retail sales increased by 4.7 per cent to GBP 312.1 mio (EUR 374.6 mio) compared to the same period last year. For the first nine months of the year, this results in growth of 2.2 per cent to GBP 945.3 mio (EUR 1.1346 bn). On a like-for-like basis, the increase was 4.2 per cent in the third quarter and 1.8 per cent in the first three quarters.

However, the Design & Installation division recorded a significant drop of 7.1 per cent to GBP 79.2 mio (EUR 95.1 mio) in the third quarter, with like-for-like sales down 13.3 per cent. This brings the Group as a whole to quarterly sales of GBP 391.3 mio (EUR 469.7 mio) and growth of 2.1 per cent (like-for-like 0.4 per cent) compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
