According to the trade fair company, significantly more than 180,000 visitors came to the Bau trade fair in Munich this year; although this was around 10,000 (5 percent) fewer than in 2023, the trade fair took place for the first time with a one-day shortening from 13 to 17 January. The Messe München exhibition centre was fully booked by the 2,230 exhibitors (2023: 2,260) from 58 countries (2023: 49 countries) for the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems, which Bau positions itself as. In addition to the number of participating countries, the international share of exhibitors also reached a new record of 52 per cent. On the visitor side, the international share was 44 per cent.
At the trade fair, many of the exhibitors active in the DIY sector registered a strong presence of home improvement retailers and expressed their satisfaction. “The trade was there with large teams from the very first day” - such statements were heard in the discussions. Conversely, retailers recognised the great commitment of the exhibitors, who presented their new products on often very elaborate exhibition stands. However, the cancellations - already known in advance - of some prominent manufacturers were viewed critically.
