Within the framework of the conference François Corda (Dyrup) and Frank Quix (Q&A) will present the key results of the Fediyma study, “Planning and Delivering a DIY Project”. The association hopes that the study will provide support for the DIY retail trade, which not only has to hold its own against direct competitors in its sector, but also against other possible ways for consumers to invest their time and money, such as travel and entertainment, fashion, beauty, jewellery and cars. The study is intended to make clear how consumers can be inspired to improve their own home and tackle bigger and higher-value DIY projects.
Just under 400 participants are expected in Brussels for the coming Fediyma Forum.
This new study, which provides an insight into the changing behaviour of consumers, involved questioning 6 000 consumers in ten European countries in the spring of 2005. Every conference delegate in Brussels will be presented with a free copy of the study.
Awaiting participants at the two-day event will be an interesting programme that sheds light on a great variety of aspects of consumer behaviour. It will include Da-niel Haber (France Pacific Consultants) investigating whether European consumers will benefit from developments in Asia, and Peter Partma (Kingfisher/Castorama) with information on the habits of Russian consumers. Sebastiano Cuturi and Jean-Luc Chatignol (Mr. Bricolage) will be taking a close look at Morocco as a potential DIY country. Sergio Giroldi (Obi) will show how innovations lead to success with the consumer, and Manfred Maus (EDRA) will deal with the possibilities of a new approach and new values for consumers.
