Kingfisher opened 28 new outlets over the course of the recently completed financial year
During the last financial year (to 31 January 2004) Kingfisher opened 28 new DIY stores around the world. This means that the total number of locations new amounts to 569. They add up to a combined retail area of 3.9751 mio m². The 327 B&Q stores in the United Kingdom account for 2.1196 mio m² of the total space.
Sales in the last financial year were down by 18 per cent to £ 8.8 bn (€ 12.96 bn) when the group’s discontinued business segments are also taken into consideration. Pre-tax profit saw a reduction of 13 per cent to £ 427 mio (€ 629 mio). However, as DIYglobal has previously reported, the group has recorded sales up by 14.8 per cent to £ 7.0382 bn (€ 10.4303 bn) on an adjusted basis.
