Another sharp rise in DIY sales in France during September

Sales by DIY stores in France rose sharply again in September. The increase compared with the same month in 2019 was 16.33 per cent, thus nearly five percentage points higher than the rate of increase in August. The figures from the Banque de France were released by the French home improvement store association FMB.
With regard to the statistics for the first nine months of the year, the September figures virtually cancel out the disappointing sales losses in the months of March and April, when DIY stores were closed for weeks on end due to Covid-19. After three quarters of the fiscal year they lag the comparable value in the previous year by 0.17 per cent.
