The European industry associations Edra/Ghin and Hima are offering the international home improvement industry another – virtual – platform for information and networking this week. On Friday, 2 September 2022, the 2nd Virtual DIY-Summit will take place. A keynote speech is expected from Sergio Giroldi; the CEO of Obi, the German market leader and Europe's third-largest DIY retailer, is retiring at the end of September. At the Virtual DIY-Summit he will speak about "The future challenges of the home improvement industry".
The summit will also feature a global political economic outlook in the morning (European time) by Michael Grampp, chief economist and research director of Deloitte, and a panel discussion on sustainability in the home improvement sector. After a networking break, Nick Stene of Euromonitor International will speak, and former Home Depot manager and author Jim Inglis will talk with Andreas Schobert, chief technology manager of Hornbach, about the prospects for e-commerce. The closing presentation will be given by consultant Chris Roebuck on "Overcoming uncertainty to beat the great resignation, optimise hybrid and deliver success".
