Challenging market for SCG Distribution

The retail sales of Thai powerhouse Siam Cement Group's building materials distribution business Thailand’s industrial powerhouse saw a 2.6 per cent dip in sales to 3.27 bn Thai baht in 2023, owing to market challenges and a high comparative base. The business segment is under SCG Distribution Co., which manages subsidiaries that sell building materials as well as ceramics, fittings and features, hand tools, paints and chemicals, and other do-it-yourself products.

The retail segment’s contribution to SCG Distribution’s overall sales is small, at 2.7 per cent.  But its network is extensive, spanning many southeast Asian markets and encompassing some of the leading homegrown brands around the region.
