The British analysis company Channel X, in collaboration with the software manufacturer Blue Yonder, the e-commerce platform Channel Engine, the online marketing provider Criteo and the supply chain provider Kbrw, has taken a close look at the top 50 online marketplaces in Europe and identified 24 market leaders, including companies from the DIY and gardening sector. These are Leroy Merlin, Manomano and, in the broadest sense, Ebay. According to the study, the highest traffic in Europe as a whole is on cross-industry marketplaces, with Amazon and Ebay ‘unsurprisingly’, as the authors of the report emphasised, leading the way. Nevertheless, these platforms only accounted for around 17 and 14 per cent of European traffic, with a whole range of ‘second-tier’ cross-industry marketplaces behind them.
