The British DIY group Kingfisher is selling Brico Dépôt Romania. The buyer is Altex Romania; the company is considered the retail market leader in the electrical, household appliances and IT sectors in Romania with more than 130 stores. The purchase price amounts to EUR 70 million. This includes the entire business of Brico Dépôt Romania, including the current 31 stores in 24 cities, distribution operations and the head office in Bucharest. The sale is expected to be finalised in the first half of 2025.
“This decision enables us to have greater strategic focus on markets and growth initiatives where we are most strongly positioned,” comments Kingfisher CEO Thierry Garnier on the sale.
