The trade fair Heimtextil 2025 ended with 142 participating nations, a 10 per cent increase in visitors and growth on the exhibitor side too. Over the four days of the fair, more than 50,000 visitors experienced new collections, materials and textile solutions for interior design from over 3,000 exhibitors. The exhibitors from the DIY sector were satisfied - the stands were well attended and good discussions were also held with representatives from the relevant retailers.
At 96 per cent, the internationality of the exhibitors also increased. The top ten exhibitor countries included China, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium. On the visitor side, the level of internationality rose to 84 per cent. In particular, the markets of Argentina, France, Great Britain, India, Italy, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, South Korea, the USA and the United Arab Emirates grew.
Inspiration for trade and industry
Designer and architect Patricia Urquiola visualised future textile design with the installation ‘among-us’, which was also conceived as an atmospheric, textile meeting space. Heimtextil Trends 25/26 under the title ‘Future Continuous’, curated for the first time by the Milan design platform Alcova, served as a source of inspiration for trade and industry for colours, material qualities, techniques and production processes. With the trend themes ‘Naturally Uneven’, ‘Radically Restructured’ and ‘Regenerative’, they showcased durable, high-quality products that also fulfil ethical and ecological requirements.
Supporting programme
Heimtextil also offered more than 140 lectures, workshops and guided tours. ‘With the Retail and Texpertise Stages, the industry benefited from know-how on circular production processes, future-oriented interior trends and AI-supported design,’ explains Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies. Experts presented best practices and sustainable collaborations to reduce CO₂ emissions.
Collaboration continues
In 2026, Patricia Urquiola will continue to develop her designs for Heimtextil. The partnership is intended to make new, progressive statements for textile room concepts, the organisers emphasise. Alcova Milano is also continuing its global trend research into innovative materials and new aesthetics: the design platform is researching the influence of textiles on society as well as the potentials and limits of the textile industry - and incorporating these into the upcoming Heimtextil trends. Heimtextil 2026 will take place from 13 to 16 January.
