In Germany, a further seven locations of the Hagebaumarkt sales division are switching to Obi. These are the stores of Hagebau shareholder Stammelbach Karl Krüger in the Hanover/Hildesheim region. The change will take place on 1 January 2026. The sales areas of the seven stores range from 6,600 m² to 20,000 m². Stammelbach Karl Krüger is part of the group of builders' merchants that the Hagebau cooperative founded 61 years ago.
This is not the first change from Hagebaumarkt to Obi; both are franchise systems. Following the transfer of the largest Hagebau store to date at the beginning of the year, Obi has announced the transfer of two further Hagebau shareholders with a total of five additional individual retail locations for 2026.
Conversely, Hagebau has announced the takeover of a previous Obi store by one of its shareholders; this new Hagebau store was reopened this week.
