The British retail group Travis Perkins increased sales in its consumer division, which includes the Wickes DIY chain, by 8.7 per cent in the first quarter. Like-for-like sales increased by 6.0 per cent alone. Online sales rose on account of the introduction of Click & Collect in particular, according to the quarterly report. Wickes has also opened two pilot stores, in which a new selling format is being tested with a view to improving space utilisation, the range and the shopping experience.
