The Swedish Byggmax group reports strong growth at a record sales level for the year 2021. The Swedish group made SEK 7.645 bn net (EUR 730.1 mio) and thus 12.4 per cent more sales than the year before. Like-for-like sales adjusted for currency effects rose by 5.4 per cent.
Growth had recently weakened slightly. In the fourth quarter, sales still rose by 6.5 per cent to quarterly sales to the amount of SEK 1.301 bn (EUR 124.3 mio).
The main revenue driver of the group is the sales channel Bygmaxx with 123 locations in Sweden, 56 in Norway, nine in Finland and four in Denmark. Its sales grew by 12.5 per cent to SEK 6.929 bn.
The sales channel Skånska Byggvaror, which is primarily active in e-commerce and operates several showrooms, increased its sales by 9.5 per cent to SEK 729 mio (EUR 69.6 mio).
For the current year 2022, CEO Mattias Ankarberg has announced a higher pace in the modernisation of the market portfolio. In addition to the opening of 15 new locations, the start of two new formats is also planned. On the one hand, a format that is to be used in retail parks. There should then be a drive-in solution for a new compact format there. In addition, the company wants to introduce the Right Price Tiles concept to Sweden under the Byggmax brand and open the first location in the second half of the year.
