The French DIY chain Castorama has now launched an online marketplace. It aims to offer 500 000 additional products there, starting with the bathroom, exterior design and garden product groups. The new offering is intended to expand the existing range, with additional categories to be added later. According to Castorama, the range of third-party suppliers exclusively from France and Europe will be rigorously selected.
The new marketplace is reportedly modelled on the marketplace set up two years ago by the British chain B&Q, which was developed by the joint parent company Kingfisher. Castorama has appointed Séverine Geoffroy, who has held management positions in marketing and above all omni-channel sales for almost 25 years, to head up these activities.
